Black Acetal Copolymer Rod - 50mm Diameter x 300mm - Grade A POM-C, ASTM D6778
Acetal Rod has excellent load-bearing qualities this multi use plastic is excellent in both tension and compression. It will absorb minimal amount of moisture and are resistant to a wide range of solvents. The service temperature range is -29º to 85º C, intermittent at 93.3º C. It has high yield strength at elevated temperatures. Properties include low friction (very slippy), high wear resistance and ease of fabrication. How it performs Acetal offers high tensile strength, stiffness, and creep resistance, and significantly outperforms many other polymers on impact resistance, allowing for thinner and lighter part design. In addition it offers outstanding low and high temperature performance, good colour ability, and good mating with metal and other polymers. It provides dimensional stability in high precision moulding and flexibility of design. What it's used for:-Mechanical gears, slide-ways and guiding elements, housing parts, screws, nuts, fan wheels, pump parts, valve bodies. Electrical Engineering: insulators, bobbins, connectors, parts for electronic devices etc. Vehicle: Fuel sender unit, Light stock (including shifter for light, turn signal), power windows, door lock systems, articulated shells. Furniture: hardware, locks, handles, hinges. Construction: Structural Glass - pod holder for point Packaging: aerosol cans, vehicle tanks.
- ✅ HIGH-QUALITY ACETAL COPOLYMER RODS - Often considered a superior material in comparison to acetal homopolymer (POM-H), acetal copolymer (POM-C) has lower friction, higher impact, and higher chemical resistance, and more dimensionally stable. When a plastic part is called for in a project, acetal copolymer is often the first option especially in parts that require durability and wear resistance like in non-marring fixtures, electrical insulators, and bushings
- ✅ HIGH MOISTURE RESISTANCE - Among different types of acetals, acetal copolymer has the highest moisture, humidity, and high-temperature resistance. It doesn't easily deteriorate or wear in wet environments. And because it absorbs minimal moisture, acetal copolymer retains its physical properties in different environments
- ✅ ZERO CENTERLINE POROSITY - Centerline or core porosity occurs when the acetal's outer layer solidifies faster resulting in a loss of volume in the rod's core. This is a big issue in acetal homopolymers. Acetal copolymers naturally have lower centerline porosity but with an excellent manufacturing process, it is possible to achieve zero centerline porosity, preventing outgassing and water penetration
- ✅ HIGHLY MACHINABLE - Aside from machining on a lathe, acetal copolymers are easy to cut using power saws and easy to sand using power sanders. As it can withstand high temperatures, this material won't become gummy during the machining process. You can use lathes, milling machines, CNC router systems, drill press, miter saws, band saws, and even hand saws!
- ✅ Excellent material for general machining applications easy to machine. Produces a great finish to machined components ideal for many hard wearing applications spur gears etc.
